The wedding ceremony will be held at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara
Parking
There is no parking at the church. Please park at the reception site (University Club, located at 1332 Santa Barbara St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101). It’s okay to use all reserved or members-only spaces. If the University Club parking fills, there is open street parking all around the Club. You can leave your car there until after the reception ends.
The church is 2 city blocks (¼ mile) from the University Club. There will be shuttle service from the University Club parking lot beginning at 12:00 to bring you to the church.
Hats and Shoes
Bring a sun hat and a pair of comfortable walking shoes to the church with you. After the ceremony and church courtyard wedding toasts, all the guests will be invited to have family pictures taken under the wisteria arbor in Alice Keck Park which is directly across the street from the church. (The pictures will be mailed to you after the wedding). There will be grass and dirt paths to walk along.
Alice Keck Park
After picture taking, you may enjoy a stroll through the park on your way to the Hors D’oeuvres Gathering at the reception site. This beautiful park has many lovely trees, flowers and a large lagoon filled with turtles, koi, ducks and other birds. On a hot day, the many turtles enjoy sunning themselves as the ducks and fish swim by. It’s fun to sit on the benches by the water and watch.
Hors d’oeuvres Gathering
If you don’t wish to walk to the Hors d’oeuvres gathering at the reception site, a shuttle at the church will bring you back to the University Club . The hors d’oeuvres gathering will be held on the grass in front of the University Club under the old oak tree. The reception proper will be held indoors. If you like, you can put your walking shoes and hat back in your car and freshen up in the University Club restrooms before the reception begins. Once you’ve finished with dinner, there will be couches and other types of seating and activities to enjoy in the club throughout the evening till midnight.
Reception
After hors d’ouvres the reception will be held indoors at The University Club of Santa Barbara. It is located at 1332 Santa Barbara St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Wedding Location History
We had been so happy that since last August we had reserved the site and caterers for both the ceremony and reception in Ventura. That all changed in January when we got a call from the company that we had reserved the location with telling us that they actually did not have a lease on the property, that there were permit problems with the city, and that we would not be able to have the wedding as planned (other issues as well are pending, but I will not be going into that here). We scrambled for a month to find a new location for the ceremony and reception.
Janet combed Ventura for an alternative, but nothing as nice was available. The good news is that with the help and support of Janet’s Sister Nancy Che we found a substitute location for both wedding and ceremony. Janet and Phil are getting married in Santa Barbara. Same date (Saturday, August 29), new location. Since we had already selected our minister, we were able to find a church which would accept a “outside” minister (not an easy task).
